Costa Firenze Moving to Carnival's Fleet
After launching as Costa Firenze in 2021, the Firenze has now sailed its last voyage under the Costa flag. It will join Carnival's fleet as Carnival Firenze.
On January 21st 2024, the Firenze completed its last voyage under the Costa Cruises banner. Following a two-week mediterranean cruise, the ship was formally handed over to its sister fleet on the morning of February 2nd. It is now the 27th ship in the Carnival Cruises fleet.
Relaunch
The vessel will now move to the shipyard to undergo a 2-month refurbishment to bring it in line with Carnival's branding and amenities.
The ship is scheduled to relaunch as the Carnival Firenze on April 25th. It will be based in Long Beach, California and will offer three- and four-day sailings to Mexico and Catalina Island, and five-, six- and seven-day cruises to the Mexican Rivera, visiting Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta.
Carnival Fun Italian Style
Costa is an Italian cruise line, and the Firenze's interiors were modeled after Italian architecture. In particular, it draws inspiration from Florence's Piazza del Duomo and the Italian Riviera.
The Firenze will join its sister ship, Carnival Venezia, which previously moved from Costa to Carnival in 2023. Carnival describes these ships as having "Carnival Fun Italian Style".
Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line said:
“The beauty of Florence, Italy is about to meet the FUN of Carnival Cruise Line! We are elated to welcome Carnival Firenze to the Carnival fleet, joining her sister Carnival Venezia to showcase ‘Carnival Fun Italian Style,’”
The ship will be equipped with typical activities and experiences seen on other Carnival ships, including the Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, Java Blue Café, Serenity adults-only area and the cruise ship water park, WaterWorks.
